The Indian telecommunication industry’s “duopoly” is set to be broken by Zoom, which has received a telecom license. As soon as the license was granted, Airtel and Jio started to sweat. Last year in September, Cisco’s Indian subsidiary, WebEx India, was granted a telecom license, allowing the company to provide business-grade national and international telecom connectivity in the country. Zoom Video Communications (ZVC) India, parent firm of Zoom Video Communications, has obtained a unified license with access to pan-India, NLD national long distance, and ILD international long distance from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Indian government. Currently, the US-based company provides voice and video conferencing services through its website and app.
